India aims to land astronauts on moon by 2040
India wants to send people to the Moon by 2040.
A former head of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said this at a big space meeting.
They also want to build a space station.
Before that, India will send more missions to the Moon, especially to the South Pole, to learn more about it.
They are working with Japan on this.
India is very interested in space and wants to understand the universe better.
India plans to land astronauts on the Moon by 2040.
Former ISRO chief A S Kiran Kumar announced this at the 5th ASI Symposium.
India is also working towards building a space station by 2040.
A follow-on mission to Chandrayaan is planned, with a focus on the Moon's South Polar region.
India is collaborating with Japan on a lander and rover for these missions.
