Assam Governor Felicitates 96-Year-Old Freedom Fighter Phanidhar Gogoi
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited Phanidhar Gogoi at his home in Dibrugarh.
Gogoi is 96 years old.
He worked as a teacher and also took part in the freedom struggle.
The governor honored him for serving the nation throughout his life.
Gogoi received a traditional Assamese gamosa and shawl.
He was also given a cheque for Rs 51,000, a dhoti, an umbrella and fruit.
The visit was part of a program honoring senior citizens.
Acharya said Gogoi’s life can inspire other people.
