Assam CM Urges Diyas For Modi Birthday Celebrations
Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked people to light small clay lamps for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
The lamps are called ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya,’ which means a lamp of blessings.
People are being asked to light them at home or at places of worship on September 17.
They can also pray for the Prime Minister’s good health and long life.
The activity is part of a month-long programme running until October 17.
The programme will celebrate Modi’s 25 years of public service.
Sarma said Modi has helped Assam and the Northeast receive more attention.
Similar lamp-lighting appeals have also been made in other states.
