Far away in India, there is a state called Sikkim.

The leader of Sikkim is called the Chief Minister, and his name is Prem Singh Tamang.

He wants one part of Sikkim, called Pakyong, to be a model district, which means a great example for other areas.

He spoke at a school in the village of Mamring, where people were celebrating Independence Day early with a football tournament.

He said Pakyong needs better roads, hospitals, schools and places for tourists to visit.

New buildings, like a district hospital and a new school, are being built there.

He told everyone that leaders and regular people must work together to make Pakyong a great place.

He reminded them that Sikkim has grown a lot over the last fifty years because everyone helped.

He also invited everyone to join a flag walk called the Tiranga Yatra on August 14 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
