Lokayukta Initiates Suo-Motu Action Against Kolar Panchayats
The Deputy Lokayukta in Karnataka has started a big investigation into 25 village councils in Kolar district because of serious problems like corruption and mismanagement.
This is the first time such an action has been taken in Karnataka.
The investigation started after surprise visits to these councils.

Investigation aims to address inefficiency, corruption, and mismanagement in local administrative bodies, with plans to expand to Tumkur and Mandya districts.
Key issues include misuse of public funds, non-completion of sanitation and drainage work, illegal work approvals, and embezzlement by Panchayat Development Officers.
Investigation revealed serious allegations against various officials, including misuse of Rs 3 lakh for road construction and Rs 68 lakh by PDOs.
