A campaign checked schools in the Marathwada region and found many buildings in poor condition.

It reported that 7,107 classrooms need major repairs or replacement.

Some schools have leaking roofs, damaged walls, broken doors and windows.

Many schools also lack working toilets, water, electricity or seating benches.

The campaign said 2,141 schools have no electricity.

It also found that 3,451 schools have electricity connections but do not use them.

Fixing or replacing all the damaged classrooms could cost about ₹852.84 crore.

The findings are being used to highlight the need for better school facilities.
