Telangana Rights Panel Acts Over Retired Engineer’s Delayed Salary
A retired engineer worked for the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation between October 2015 and February 2017.
His salary was not paid regularly during that time.
He eventually received all the delayed money together in October 2018.
He also did not receive important tax documents on time.
Because of this, the Income Tax Department sent him notices.
The Telangana Human Rights Commission said government offices should have sent his service records more quickly after he was transferred.
It said delayed salary can hurt a person’s family, finances and dignity.
The Commission recommended that the government examine the matter and provide the needed tax certificate.
It then closed the case after making this recommendation.
A retired Executive Engineer’s salary for October 2015 to February 2017 was not paid regularly.
He received Rs.14,24,488 in a lump sum in October 2018 after his Last Pay Certificate was received.
The engineer said authorities failed to provide Form-16, bill details and TDS remittance information on time.
The delay led to show cause notices from the Income Tax Department over non-filing of returns.
