Nine Bargi Dam Gates Opened; Narmada Ghats Alert Issued
9 Gates Of Bargi Dam Open Amid Heavy Rainfall In Jabalpur & Catchment Areas; Safety Alert Issued For Narmada Ghats As Water Level To Rise By 4 Feet · freepressjournal.in

Imagine a giant bathtub called a dam that holds back a big river.

It rained a lot near the dam, so the water in the bathtub got very high.

To make sure the dam does not overflow, workers opened nine big doors called gates.

Water is now rushing out of the dam into the Narmada River.

This will make the river rise by about 3 to 4 feet, which is almost as tall as a tall adult.

Because the river will be higher, people who visit the river steps, called ghats, need to be careful.

Rescue teams are ready to help if anyone is in trouble.

The dam is about 84 percent full, so there is still some room for more water.

Everyone is being told to stay away from the riverbanks until the water goes down.
