NEET MDS counselling delay leaves dental graduates in limbo
Dentists in India who want to become specialists are waiting for something called NEET MDS counselling.
Counselling is the step where students pick which college they will go to for further studies.
They took a big test called NEET MDS on May 2.
The results came out on June 2.
That should mean counselling could start soon after.
But as of August 9, the counselling dates still had not been announced.
That means more than three months have passed since the test.
Waiting so long is stressful for the students.
Two groups, the Dental Doctors Association and the All India Dental Students and Dental Surgeons Association, are asking the government to hurry up.
They want clear dates so everyone knows what will happen next.
More than 99 days have passed since the NEET MDS exam without counselling dates being announced.
The Medical Counselling Committee had released no counselling schedule as of August 9.
The Dental Doctors Association and All India Dental Students and Dental Surgeons Association demanded immediate release of the NEET MDS 2026 counselling schedule.
The associations urged the Health Ministry to direct the committee and ensure a time-bound, transparent counselling process.
They also demanded official clarification for the delay and that the academic session begin without further postponement.
