Karnataka CM Shivakumar says he is ready for 2028 polls
A very important leader in India named D.K. Shivakumar has become the Chief Minister of Karnataka, which means he is the head of the state government.
He gave a big speech inside the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, the building where state laws are made, and introduced his team of ministers.
He said he got this job because his party and 139 elected members supported him.
He promised to treat all 224 elected members equally, even the ones from other parties.
He remembered many past leaders of Karnataka and thanked them for good things like a food scheme called Anna Bhagya and a road project called NICE Road.
He said Karnataka is very talented and has many engineers, so he wants to build new roads and grow smaller cities too.
Some other leaders were upset because their side was not happy with the election of the Speaker, the person who runs the meetings.
Shivakumar told them they should have voted instead of protesting outside.
He said he plans carefully like a chess player, not a football player, and he is ready for the next election in 2028.
He wants everyone to work together as one team for Karnataka.
Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar introduced his Cabinet colleagues in the Legislative Assembly and said all 224 MLAs are equal in his eyes.
He said he became Chief Minister with the support of 139 MLAs, following June 3 discussions by Congress leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Shivakumar described his government as a continuation of Siddaramaiah's tenure, in which he served as Deputy Chief Minister for three years.
He criticised the opposition for protesting the Speaker's election instead of participating, saying the Speaker must remain above party lines.
Declaring he is 'a chess player, not a football player', Shivakumar said he knows how to face the 2028 elections and urged everyone to work as 'Team Karnataka'.
