The University of Sheffield is accepting applications for a biomedical engineering degree starting in September 2027.

Biomedical engineering uses engineering ideas to help improve people’s health.

Students first learn basic engineering, science and how the human body works.

In the second year, they choose a pathway connected to medical devices, biomanufacturing, biomaterials or tissue engineering.

They also learn about biomechanics, mechatronics, data-driven design and machine learning.

In the final year, students complete a large individual research project.

They can optionally spend a year working in industry or studying abroad.

The course is designed to prepare graduates for jobs in medical technology and healthcare innovation.
