Sheffield Opens Applications for 2027 Biomedical Engineering Degree
The University of Sheffield is accepting applications for a biomedical engineering degree starting in September 2027.
Biomedical engineering uses engineering ideas to help improve people’s health.
Students first learn basic engineering, science and how the human body works.
In the second year, they choose a pathway connected to medical devices, biomanufacturing, biomaterials or tissue engineering.
They also learn about biomechanics, mechatronics, data-driven design and machine learning.
In the final year, students complete a large individual research project.
They can optionally spend a year working in industry or studying abroad.
The course is designed to prepare graduates for jobs in medical technology and healthcare innovation.
The University of Sheffield is inviting applications for its BEng Biomedical Engineering course beginning in September 2027.
The three-year course combines engineering, medicine and biology to develop medical technologies and healthcare solutions.
Students choose between two second-year pathways leading to specialisms including medical devices, biomanufacturing, biomaterials and tissue engineering.
The course includes laboratory work, collaborative design projects, machine learning, a major research project and professional skills development.
Optional placement and study-abroad years are available, while the course is accredited by IPEM and IET on behalf of the Engineering Council.
