The allegations involve 22 minor students at the Temba school.

Officials said the cook, Ganpat Gavli, had previously faced a similar case at another school.

He had been jailed and suspended under a child-protection law.

Afterward, he was posted at another school and later transferred to Temba.

The students reported the matter to school authorities on August 24.

Police then registered a complaint and arrested him.

Officials are investigating how he was allowed to return to school work.
