India Debates Whether 2026 Marks 79th or 80th Independence Day

In August, India celebrates a very special day called Independence Day.

It is the day India became its own country many years ago.

This year, people are asking a funny question: is it the 79th or the 80th Independence Day?

Some people say 79, and some people say 80.
