US Envoy Meets Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka

The Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, met with the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, in Dhaka.

They talked about how the US wants to work closely with India and Bangladesh.

Bangladesh’s foreign minister said the visit was "exploratory" and that the US envoy would visit Rohingya refugee camps.

The US is the biggest donor to help Rohingya refugees, along with Japan, Australia, Norway, and the European Union.

The meeting is part of the US trying to balance its interests in the Bay of Bengal and keep Bangladesh from leaning too much toward China.

The US also wants to make sure Bangladesh stays friendly with the US.

The meeting happened on Thursday, the first official visit of the US envoy to Bangladesh.

It shows how countries talk to each other to solve big problems.
