ESIC Expands India’s Medical Education and Healthcare Workforce
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation helps provide healthcare and education for workers and their families.
Its medical colleges have produced 4,961 doctors.
Among them are 1,682 children of insured workers.
More than 1,200 students have also completed postgraduate medical courses.
ESIC sets aside about 880 seats each year for workers’ children.
These seats include medical, dental, nursing and paramedical courses.
ESIC operates hospitals, dispensaries and colleges across India.
The government says its expanding education network will help create more medical professionals.
ESIC medical institutions have produced 4,961 doctors, including 1,682 children of insured workers.
More than 1,200 postgraduate students have graduated from ESIC institutions.
ESIC reserves about 880 annual seats for children of insured workers across medical and allied courses.
The ESIC network includes 169 hospitals, 1,603 dispensaries and 17 medical colleges.
ESI coverage currently extends to 728 of India’s 787 districts.
