ESIC Launches Technology Crackdown On ₹2,473 Crore Unpaid Contributions
ESIC crackdown: Over ₹2,400 cr social security money trapped in 6.45 lakh recovery certificates pending for a decade · thehindubusinessline.com

The ESIC collects money from employers to help provide health and social security benefits to workers.

Many employers have not paid money they owe, and the unpaid amount is about ₹2,473 crore.

These debts are recorded in millions of recovery certificates.

Many of the cases have been stuck for more than ten years.

Instead of immediately using force, ESIC is sending messages to employers asking them to pay.

It used a chatbot and mobile-phone information to reach company owners and officials.

The campaign had recovered ₹37.24 crore in 1,479 cases by May 19.

Some cases remain difficult because companies are closed, in court, bankrupt, or have no assets that can be seized.
