Rain-induced landslide suspends train services on Baripada-Bangiriposi route
Very heavy rain caused a big mudslide in a place called Mayurbhanj in India.
The mudslide washed away the dirt and concrete that was holding up the train tracks.
About 50 metres of railway track lost its support.
This happened near the town of Baripada.
Because the tracks were not safe, trains were stopped on that route.
The problem was found late on Sunday night while a train was moving on the tracks.
Another fast train had already passed through the area before the damage was discovered.
Railway workers are now busy fixing the tracks.
Train services will start again once the tracks are safe to use.
Train services on the Baripada-Bangiriposi route were suspended after a heavy rain-induced landslide washed away soil under the railway tracks.
Around 50 metres of railway track lost its earth and concrete support near Sunagadia in the Station Bazaar area.
The landslide occurred between Betnoti and Bhanjpur, between KM 52/2 and 52/3 near LC 36.
The damage was detected during the movement of a DMU train late Sunday night, after the Puri-Bangiriposi Superfast Express had passed through the section.
South Eastern Railway officials said train movements have been suspended since Sunday night and restoration work is ongoing.
