Hyderabad prepares for mass Ganesh immersion with extensive security arrangements
Hyderabad is getting ready for a very large procession to immerse Ganesh idols in water.
The procession will happen on Friday, called Anant Chaturdashi.
It marks the end of 11 days of Ganesh celebrations.
The huge Khairatabad idol is expected to enter the water first.
The Balapur idol will lead a 19-kilometre procession to Hussain Sagar.
Many roads will have traffic restrictions because large crowds are expected.
Officials have prepared lakes, ponds and artificial tanks for the idols.
Cranes, boats, swimmers, medical camps and ambulances will help keep people safe.
Thousands of workers will operate in shifts to support the event.
Mass Ganesh idol immersion will take place across Hyderabad on Anant Chaturdashi, Friday, marking the end of 11-day festivities.
The 69-feet Khairatabad Maha Ganesh idol is scheduled to be immersed first, followed by the Balapur Ganesh and other processions.
The Balapur procession will travel 19 kilometres from Balapur to Hussain Sagar through Hyderabad’s Old City.
Authorities have imposed traffic restrictions and deployed security, cranes, boats, swimmers, medical teams and ambulances at immersion locations.
GHMC expects 77,687 idols to be immersed and has deployed 110 static cranes, 170 mobile cranes and 20,000 staff members.
