AMU Student From Kolkata Found Dead in Hostel Room
A 19-year-old student who was studying at Aligarh Muslim University in India sadly passed away.
She was from Kolkata and lived in a university dormitory called I G Hall.
Early on Wednesday morning, her friends found her in her room.
She had come back to university on July 28, and her friends said she seemed upset.
The night before, she had a difficult phone conversation with her mother.
Her mother was worried, so she asked one of her daughter's friends to check on her.
The friend found the room locked from inside and had to break open the door.
University officials called the police, and a forensic team is now examining what happened.
The university says four similar tragedies have happened to its students in the last three years.
To help students who feel sad or stressed, the university has started a counselling programme where students can talk to someone.

The university has reported four student suicide cases over the past three years and has started regular counselling programmes in hostels.
