SEBI deploys AI tools as 62% investors follow finfluencers
SEBI is like a referee for India's stock market, making sure it is fair for everyone.
Recently, SEBI asked people who invest their money and found that 62% of them listen to online money advisors called 'finfluencers.'
Many of these finfluencers give advice even though nobody checks if the advice is good.
To protect investors, SEBI has built clever computer tools that use artificial intelligence.
One tool, called Project Sudarsan, watches social media to find money advice that could trick people.
Another tool, called R(AI)DAR, checks advertisements from companies that manage people's investments.
SEBI is also helping people spot fake apps and fraudsters with tools like validated UPI handles and the SEBI Check facility.
During 2025-26, SEBI ran nearly 390,000 classes and campaigns to teach people about money, including one called 'SEBI vs SCAM.'
SEBI says these tools help, but learning about money is still the best way to stay safe.
SEBI's annual report found that 62% of investors are influenced by finfluencers, many of whom operate without regulatory oversight or verified performance records.
Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said investor protection can no longer rely solely on conventional regulation as advice moves to social media.
SEBI launched Project Sudarsan, an AI platform that monitors unsolicited financial advice circulating on social media.
SEBI deployed R(AI)DAR, an AI-enabled system that reviews asset management company advertisements for misleading or unauthorized content.
Nearly 3.9 lakh awareness programmes were conducted during 2025-26, including the nationwide 'SEBI vs SCAM' financial literacy campaign.
