BJP suspends Pulwama district chief booked for extortion
The police in a place called Jammu and Kashmir received a complaint about a politician named Syed Showkat Gayoor.

A builder named Mohammad Yasin Ganie said Gayoor asked him for money.
The builder said Gayoor threatened to have him locked up under a special law called the Public Safety Act if he did not pay.
Ganie said he was forced to pay 54,000 rupees in two parts in November last year.
The police wrote an official report called an FIR about the complaint.
They said Gayoor is accused of stopping the builder from working, scaring him, and asking for money unfairly.
