Raj Thackeray Says PM Photo Cannot Share Row With Icons
Raj Thackeray said a photograph of the Prime Minister should not be placed next to three important figures from Maharashtra’s history.
These figures are Shivaji Maharaj, Jyotirao Phule and B R Ambedkar.
He said they have a special place in the state’s history.
Thackeray said the Prime Minister’s photograph can still be shown in government offices.
He only objected to placing it in the same row as the three icons.
His comments followed the removal of a Modi photograph at a Pune polytechnic institute.
Amit Thackeray and MNS workers were involved in removing it.

He named Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Dr B R Ambedkar as occupying a unique place in the state’s history.
Thackeray said the Prime Minister’s photograph may be displayed in government offices and other official institutions.
His remarks came days after Amit Thackeray and MNS workers removed a photograph of Narendra Modi placed beside Shivaji Maharaj’s portrait.
The photograph was removed at a polytechnic institute in Pune, while Raj Thackeray made his remarks in Thane on Sunday.
