BJP Seeks Removal of Shinde, Sarnaik Photos From Civic Nameplates
In a place called Mira-Bhayandar, there are two political groups called the BJP and the Shiv Sena.
The BJP recently won control of the local city government, which is called the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation.
When the other group was in charge, they put up pictures of two leaders, Eknath Shinde and Pratap Sarnaik, on signboards at city buildings.
These pictures were placed when new development projects were opened.
Now the BJP says the pictures were put up without following the rules.
So the BJP has asked to have the pictures taken down politely.
The BJP will discuss this at a big meeting on August 13.
Because the BJP has more members at the meeting, the pictures will probably be removed.
The BJP also wants to check other decisions the old leaders made, like road and community hall projects.
Some people think this will make the two groups argue even more.
The BJP, now in power in the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, has placed a proposal to remove photographs of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Minister Pratap Sarnaik from nameplates at municipal buildings and public properties.
The proposal will be considered at the General Body meeting scheduled for August 13 and is likely to be approved given the BJP's clear majority.
The photographs were displayed during the administrative period at inaugurations of development projects, and the proposal alleges they were installed in violation of applicable rules and protocol (Rajshishtachar).
A demand has been made to remove the photographs respectfully, and the move has sparked claims of a setback for the Shiv Sena.
