CityUHK ranks 95th globally, maintains second place in Hong Kong
A university ranking is like a scoreboard that grades universities all over the world.
A company called ShanghaiRanking makes one of the most famous scoreboards, the Academic Ranking of World Universities, or ARWU.
Every year it checks more than 2,500 universities and shows the best 1,000.
City University of Hong Kong, which people call CityUHK, got a very good grade this year.
It came in 95th place in the whole world, four spots better than last year.
It was also the second-best university in Hong Kong.
This is the second year in a row that CityUHK has been in the top 100 worldwide.
The university also did very well at finding famous researchers, ranking in the world's top 25 for highly cited researchers.
CityUHK also scored high in another famous ranking called the QS World University Rankings, where it came 52nd in the world.
The university's acting president, Professor Chun-Sing Lee, said he was very proud of the teachers and researchers.
CityUHK ranked 95th globally in the 2026 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), rising four places from last year.
The university maintained 2nd position in Hong Kong and stayed among the global top 100 for the second consecutive year.
CityUHK entered the global top 25 for the first time in the 'Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate' indicator, ranking 2nd in Hong Kong.
In the 2027 QS World University Rankings, CityUHK jumped 11 places to 52nd globally and ranked 2nd globally for Citations per Faculty.
Acting President Professor Chun-Sing Lee credited the results to the university's teaching and research strengths and its leading edge in internationalised education.
