Punjab Police Extradites Fugitive From Moldova, Mann Warns Gangsters
Punjab Police brought an accused criminal named Amritpal Singh, also called Amrit Dalam, back to India from Moldova.
Moldova had detained him while he was trying to enter Ukraine.
Police began the extradition process to return him.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann praised the officers involved.
He said Punjab has a strict policy against gangsters, extortionists and drug traffickers.
Mann said criminals should not think they can hide overseas forever.
He also cited thousands of cases and many arrests or actions against criminal networks.
Moldova recognized the cooperation between its authorities and Punjab Police.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann felicitated Punjab Police officers for securing Amritpal Singh alias Amrit Dalam’s extradition from Moldova.
Moldovan authorities detained Dalam on February 24 while he was trying to cross the Otaci border into Ukraine.
Mann said 1,234 gangster modules had been busted and 10 fugitives deported from abroad.
The government reported 60,582 FIRs against drug traffickers and seizure of properties worth Rs 366 crore.
Mann said Punjab Police, supported by central agencies, would pursue organised criminals across international borders.
