Punjab Police said it secured the extradition of Amritpal Singh, also called Amrit Dalam, from Moldova.

Police described him as a key operative of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang.

They said he is wanted in cases involving murder, attempted murder, weapons, drugs and the UAPA law.

The extradition followed a six-month operation called Operation Eastern Reach.

Punjab Police said this was its first extradition from a European country.

The operation involved Indian central agencies and international partners.

Police thanked authorities in Moldova and Azerbaijan, along with several Indian agencies.

Separately, a Punjab campaign reported 601 raids, 261 arrests and four weapons recovered on Friday.
