Maharashtra Milk Prices to Rise Rs 2 Per Litre

In Maharashtra, a state in India, the price of milk will go up by 2 rupees for every litre starting August 11.

This means people will pay a little more when they buy cow's milk or buffalo's milk.

A group called the Milk Producers and Processors Welfare Association made this decision.

The national government said it will not fix a minimum price for milk.

Instead, prices will be decided by cooperatives and private dairies based on market conditions.

The government says it is doing many things to help dairy farmers.

It has helped set up thousands of new dairy cooperative societies in villages and distributed quality testing devices.

Farmers have also received better breeding tools, such as free artificial insemination, to improve their animals.

Because of these efforts, India is now producing much more milk than it did ten years ago.

The government hopes these steps will keep both farmers and people who buy milk happy.
