Manipur Chief Minister Reviews Security Situation Along Highways
Manipur is a state in India where people from different communities live.
In May 2023, fighting started between these communities, and it made life difficult for everyone.
The big roads called highways became unsafe, so people could not travel easily.
Goods that people need could also not move along one of the main roads.
The Chief Minister of Manipur, Y Khemchand Singh, wants to change that.
He held a big meeting with police, army and other officials to talk about how to make the highways safe again.
He also said the highways would be opened for everyone and that a bus service between Imphal and Guwahati would start again.
Some groups are still blocking a highway because they want justice for six people from their community who were killed.

The review came three days after Singh announced during a visit to Kangpokpi district that the highways would reopen for all communities and the Imphal-Guwahati bus service would resume.
Movement along NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) and NH-37 (Imphal-Silchar) has been severely affected since ethnic violence broke out in Manipur in May 2023.
Goods movement on NH-2 is also affected by a blockade by Naga groups demanding justice over the killing of six community members by armed persons in May this year.
Singh said the government remains steadfast in ensuring safe, secure and uninterrupted movement of passengers and essential goods on the highways.
