Gurugram civic chief transferred amid waterlogging, reinstated within 24 hours
It rained a lot in Gurugram, a city in India, and many roads got flooded with water.
The person in charge of the city's government, Mr. Pradeep Dahiya, was given a new job in another city called Rohtak just hours after the flooding.
Many people thought the job change happened because of the floods.
But the Haryana state government said it was just a normal change.
Then, within one day, Mr. Dahiya got his old job back as the head of Gurugram's city government.
During the rains, Mr. Dahiya visited parts of the city to check the drains.
He told his team to watch the drains day and night so streets stay dry.
Some roads, like Sheetla Mata Road and the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, got flooded, and water even went into a hospital's basement.
Schools closed, and many offices asked people to work from home.
Officials say nobody was seriously hurt, but the city is working hard to handle the rainy season.
Haryana government transferred Gurugram Municipal Corporation Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya to Deputy Commissioner of Rohtak hours after heavy rain triggered severe waterlogging.
Dahiya, a 2013-batch IAS officer, was reinstated as Gurugram civic body commissioner within 24 hours of the transfer.
2018-batch IAS officer Sachin Gupta was moved from Deputy Commissioner of Rohtak to Deputy Commissioner of Ambala.
Gurugram recorded 115 mm of rain in 33 hours, flooding areas including Sheetla Mata Mandir Road, Pataudi Road, Basai Road, Sectors 31 and 39.
On Friday, the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and Golf Course Road flooded, and rainwater entered the Civil Hospital basement, briefly suspending operations.
