Chanakyapuri Neighbourhood Takes a Different Route to Zero Waste
How a Lutyens’ Delhi neighbourhood has gone ‘zero waste’ · indianexpress.com

More than 300 homes in a Chanakyapuri neighbourhood handle their waste in a special way.

Three workers collect the waste each morning.

They serve two residential blocks and nearby officers’ flats.

The collection begins at about 6:30 a.m.

The workers put different kinds of waste into separate parts of a bicycle cart.

They finish collecting by around 11 a.m.

Then they take the waste to a Material Recovery Facility.

This facility is about 1.5 kilometres away and is run by the New Delhi Municipal Council.

The process gives this neighbourhood a different route from the usual journey toward dumpsites.
