Nagaland government committed to honourable Naga solution: Rio

On a special day in India, the Chief Minister of Nagaland, a state in the northeast, gave a speech in Kohima, the capital.

He said that he still hopes to solve a very old problem between the Naga people and the Indian government, and that everyone should be happy with the final answer.

Many different groups, like tribal bodies, churches, students and political parties, met in September 2024 to help with this.

A new top-level committee from the Indian government will now lead the talks.

He also talked about eastern Nagaland, which will get its own special arrangement called the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority.

He was very sad about a bomb attack that killed one soldier and hurt four others, and said the investigation is now with a special agency.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the fight against drugs, saying police have caught many people involved in drug crimes.

He said new sports halls and football grounds were opened for young people.

Heavy rain caused landslides and floods in the state, hurting people and damaging homes, especially in Mon district.

He promised the government will keep working to keep everyone safe and help the state grow.
