Delivery Boy Flees With ₹90 Lakh Gold Consignment
A man who delivers packages for a courier company in India is accused of running away with some of the packages.
The packages were full of gold jewellery and gold biscuits worth about 90 lakh rupees, which is a very large amount of money.
He was supposed to carry 14 packages from the city of Pune to the city of Mumbai.
When the bus arrived in Mumbai around 9 a.m., the man was not on it.
The bus conductor said he had got off the bus near a place called Wakad Bridge.
When company workers tried to call his phone, it was switched off.
The owner of the courier company reported the matter to the police.
The police have registered a case and are now investigating what happened to the gold.
Vishal Satyapal Chauhan, a 20-year-old delivery boy, allegedly fled with gold jewellery and bullion worth ₹90.33 lakh while transporting 14 consignments from Pune to Mumbai.
The consignments contained gold biscuits and jewellery belonging to five jewellers from Pune, six from Kolhapur, and one each from Jalgaon, Jalna and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Chauhan got off the bus near Wakad Bridge instead of reaching the Mumbai office, and his mobile phone was switched off when company officials tried to call him.
A case has been registered at Khadak Police Station based on a complaint by Jitendra Rishikesh Singh, owner of SGLJP Logistics Pvt. Ltd.
Assistant Police Inspector Prasanna Jarhad is investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged disappearance of the gold consignments.
