Krishna Water Likely To Reach Chittoor Region After Sept. 10 · deccanchronicle.com

The government is moving Krishna River water to the erstwhile Chittoor district.

This is happening because weak rains have caused tanks, ponds and some borewells to dry up.

Water began moving through the Handri-Neeva project from the Srisailam area.

It reached Jeedipalli Reservoir on August 11 and is heading toward Cherlopalli Reservoir.

Officials expect to send it to the region after September 10.

The water will travel through two branch canals.

It will mainly help provide drinking water and refill storage tanks.

The government also plans to use some Handri-Neeva water for industrial needs.

This is expected to be the ninth time Krishna water has reached the district through the project.
