Chandimal Rushed to Hospital for Scans After Boundary-Line Injury
Dinesh Chandimal plays cricket for Sri Lanka.
During a big match against India, he tried to stop the ball from crossing the edge of the field.
He dived and landed very badly, hurting his right shoulder and the back of his neck.
He had to leave the field with help from the medical team.
Doctors checked him and sent him to the hospital for a special scan.
A scan lets doctors take pictures of the inside of the body to make sure nothing is badly hurt.
Sri Lanka's cricket board said it was a safety check and that they will share more news soon.
This happened on the fourth day of the match in a city called Galle.
Chandimal's team was already behind, and India was winning by a lot of runs.
Everyone hopes he feels better soon and can keep playing.
Sri Lanka batter Dinesh Chandimal injured his right shoulder and neck while diving to prevent a boundary on Day 4 of the first Test against India in Galle.
He was taken to hospital for precautionary scans after being assessed by the physiotherapist and doctor; Sri Lanka Cricket said further updates would follow once scan results were available.
The injury occurred when he dived to stop a KL Rahul sweep at deep backward square leg and landed with his entire body weight on his neck.
Chandimal scored 4 runs off 16 balls in the first innings, falling to Manav Suthar, as Sri Lanka were dismissed for 284, conceding a 178-run lead to India.
At the time of reporting, India were 84/3 in their second innings, leading Sri Lanka by 262 runs, with Devdutt Padikkal (41*) and Rishabh Pant (4*) at the crease.
