Team India Players Begin Gruelling Bengaluru Fitness Tests
India’s top cricket players went to Bengaluru to check their fitness.
They are preparing for a very busy season that will last about eight months.
The players must complete running tests and cricket exercises.
These include the Bronco Test, a 2,000-metre run and the Yo-Yo test.
Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and several other players took part.
Some players, including Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, are still recovering from injuries and will test later.
Fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna were given a temporary exemption after bowling in two Tests.
India’s season will begin with T20 matches against Afghanistan in New Delhi.
India’s centrally contracted cricketers reported to Bengaluru’s Centre of Excellence for mandatory fitness assessments.
Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal and other prominent players took part in the tests.
The assessments include the Bronco Test, a 2,000-metre run, the Yo-Yo test and cricket-specific drills.
Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy will test after completing rehabilitation, while Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are temporarily exempt.
India’s eight-month season begins with a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in New Delhi and includes the Asian Games and a West Indies home series.
