Samsung Reports Rapid Growth in India’s AI Appliances Demand
Samsung says people in India are buying more appliances that can connect to the internet and use AI features.
These appliances include products designed to offer greater convenience and save energy.
The company said the number of newly connected appliances grew from 82,000 in 2022 to 732,000 last year.
Samsung also said it had already exceeded last year’s total during the first eight months of this year.
Many of the customers using these products are in their twenties and thirties.
Samsung said 71% of active SmartThings users in India and Southwest Asia are in that age group.
The company is expanding AI features from expensive products to mid-range and entry-level appliances.
It also said more than 95% of the appliances it sells in India are made locally.
Samsung said it has not yet seen a significant global growth change because of geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
Samsung says more than half of its appliances sold in India are now AI-enabled or connected devices.
Newly connected Samsung appliances in the region rose from 82,000 in 2022 to 732,000 last year.
Southwest Asia’s share of Samsung’s global connected-device base increased from 2% in 2022 to 13% in 2026.
Samsung says younger consumers account for much of India’s adoption of AI appliance features.
More than 95% of Samsung appliances sold in India are manufactured domestically, according to the company.
