Vedanta Software Launches AI Tool for Digital Newspapers

Vedanta Software has made a new computer tool for newspaper publishers.

The tool uses artificial intelligence to understand the layout of a printed newspaper page.

It creates clickable areas that connect stories and pictures to their full articles.

This means readers can tap parts of a digital newspaper instead of only looking at a picture of the page.

People previously had to create these clickable areas by hand, page by page.

That could take hours for a whole newspaper edition.

Vedanta Software says its tool can do the work in minutes.

The tool is free while it is being tested, but it will later use a credit-based payment system.

The company says it wants to automate more publishing tasks.
