e-Shram portal turns 5; 31.89 crore workers join platform: Check eligibility, benefits and how to register for free · livemint.com

e-Shram is an Indian government website for people who work outside many formal company systems.

It started in 2021 by creating a digital record for these workers.

More than 31.89 crore workers have registered, according to the release.

In 2024, the website became a one-stop place for several government services.

It can help eligible workers find welfare schemes, insurance, pensions, jobs and training.

Having an e-Shram card does not automatically give someone cash, insurance or a pension.

Instead, it helps workers identify and use schemes for which they qualify.

The portal includes migrant, agricultural, domestic, construction, gig and platform workers.

Registration is free and can be completed online or with help from government service centres.
