Seven Drown in Gujarat During Immersion and Bathing Incidents
Seven young people died in two separate accidents in Gujarat on Friday.
Three youths went into the Tapi River near Surat to immerse a Ganesh idol.
Their small boat became unbalanced and overturned.
An artificial pond had been prepared nearby, but they went to the river instead.
Four other youths drowned while bathing at a check dam in Amreli district.
All seven bodies from these two incidents were recovered.
A separate accident happened in Morbi on Thursday during Ganesh idol immersion.
Two missing youths were later found dead after two others were rescued.
Three youths drowned in the Tapi River near Surat when a small fishing boat capsized during Ganesh idol immersion.
The Surat victims were identified as Shardul Mer, Raju Mer and Dana Shiyaliya, all from Kholvad village.
Four youths drowned while bathing at a check dam in Mota Devaliya, Amreli district.
Authorities recovered all seven bodies from the Surat and Amreli incidents and sent them for post-mortem examinations.
In a separate Morbi incident, two youths’ bodies were recovered after four people began drowning during idol immersion in the Machchhu River.
