Uttarakhand Plans Three-Day Camps to Restore Missing Voters
Uttarakhand is holding special camps for three days to help people get onto the voter list.
The camps will be open at every polling station from October 8 to October 10.
Election workers will compare the new voter list with the older one.
They will look for people who were on the old list but are missing from the new one.
Workers will also help new and young voters fill out a form to register.
The list of people found will be shared with political party representatives.
The number of voters went down after a major review, and this has drawn criticism.
Uttarakhand will hold special voter-enrolment camps at every polling station from October 8 to 10.
Booth-level officers will compare current electoral rolls with pre-SIR rolls to identify eligible people omitted from the current lists.
Officials said booth-level officers will help left-out, first-time and young electors submit Form 6 during house-to-house visits.
The officers will share the list of identified electors with booth-level agents of recognised political parties.
The electorate fell from 84,29,459 before the revision to 71,58,949 afterward; opposition parties and others have criticised the deletions.
