Gen-Z Tiranga Rally in Kathua Ahead of Independence Day
India has a special holiday called Independence Day.
Before that day, people do proud and fun activities to celebrate.
In a town called Kathua, hundreds of young people walked together carrying a very big Indian flag.
This is called a 'tiranga rally,' because the Indian flag is also known as the tricolour, meaning three colours.
The young people shouted happy slogans to show love for their country.
They also remembered brave soldiers who gave their lives for India.
One of those soldiers was Captain Sunil Singh Choudhary.
The police also drove motorcycles with flags near the border with Pakistan.
In another place called Reasi, people went rafting on the Chenab river with flags on their rafts.
All of these events help people celebrate and remember what Independence Day means.
A 'Gen-Z tiranga rally' was held in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua ahead of Independence Day, with hundreds of students carrying the tricolour in a long serpentine procession.
Organiser Ranjit Pathania said the rally aimed to bring youth onto the streets to honour the national flag and pay tribute to martyrs.
Participants paid tribute to martyrs including Captain Sunil Singh Choudhary, after whom Kathua railway station has been named.
Nearly 500 bikers from the police and civil society took part in a tiranga bike rally from R S Pura to Octroi Post at Suchetgarh near the international border.
In Reasi district, a raft rally displaying the tricolour was held on the Chenab river under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma said district Independence Day celebrations were planned in four phases and would continue till August 17.
