Kakori Action Day: Permanent Bridge Ends Nawada Village Isolation
Many years ago, there was a brave man named Thakur Roshan Singh who helped India in its fight for freedom.
He was born in a small village called Nawada, next to a river named Khannaut.
For a very long time, the village did not have a strong bridge over that river.
When heavy rains came, the village was cut off for months, and people could not reach hospitals, schools, or markets.
So the government decided to build a proper permanent bridge.
The state's leader, Yogi Adityanath, visited the village and opened the new bridge.
The villagers were very happy because ambulances, students, and farmers could travel easily again.
The village is proud of Roshan Singh, who gave up his life for the country in 1927.
Now the village is also getting a new college and better roads to honor him.
Nawada village in Shahjahanpur district, birthplace of revolutionary martyr Thakur Roshan Singh, remained cut off from mainstream development for decades due to the absence of a permanent bridge over the Khannaut River.
Residents were isolated for four to five months every year during monsoons, affecting access to hospitals, schools, colleges, and markets.
A permanent bridge replacing a pontoon crossing, along with road works and a degree college project, was sanctioned on February 25, 2018.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the bridge on December 30, 2018, paid tribute at Roshan Singh's statue, and met his family.
Thakur Roshan Singh, executed at Naini Jail in Prayagraj on December 19, 1927, was sentenced to death alongside Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, and Rajendra Nath Lahiri in the Kakori conspiracy case.
