Telangana Agricultural University Plans Weather-Ready Crop Diversification Pilot Project
A university in Telangana is planning a project to help farmers grow crops suited to changing weather.
It is scheduled to begin in the coming Rabi growing season.
The project will first focus on pulses and oilseeds.
It will work through 12 regional research centres.
Four villages near each centre will be chosen.
About 25 experienced farmers in each village will be invited to take part.
The farmers will be offered improved farming methods suited to their needs.
The university also plans to ask the state government for about Rs 25 crore to support the programme.
