UP Announces Free Bus Travel, Scooters for Women

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced new benefits for women before Raksha Bandhan.

Women aged 60 and older will be able to ride state buses for free.

From August 27 to 29, women and one companion can also travel free on these buses.

The government plans to give scooters to 50,000 female undergraduate students.

The chief minister said these programs are meant to help women travel, study and become more independent.

He also described programs involving safety systems, housing, banking and self-help groups.

He said more women are now working and taking part in businesses and technology.

The government wants women to make up half of the workforce in the state.
