Andhra Pradesh, UK Sign Rs 40,000 Crore Urban Pact
Andhra Pradesh has made a long-term agreement with the United Kingdom to improve cities and towns.
Amaravati, the planned capital city, is a major focus.
The agreement also covers 123 municipalities and municipal corporations across the state.
The partners may work on roads, drains, drinking water and waste services.
They will also study better buses, metro rail, airport links and safer walking routes.
UK technology, such as digital twins and intelligent transport systems, may be used.
The work could help reduce traffic and pollution.
Projects worth nearly Rs 40,000 crore are being taken up across the municipalities.
Some projects may receive UK Export Finance support if they meet the required rules.
Andhra Pradesh and the United Kingdom signed a government-to-government urban development MoU on Tuesday.
The partnership covers Amaravati and 123 municipalities and municipal corporations across Andhra Pradesh.
