600 kg Jaggery Seized in Illicit Liquor Probe
Police in Telangana stopped a truck in a village called Veldanda.
They found it was carrying a lot of black jaggery, which is a sweet used to make alcohol, and tablets that help it ferment.
The driver, a man named Islavath Raju, was taken into custody.
The police said the goods were bought in Hyderabad and were meant for making illegal liquor in a nearby village.
They opened a case and will keep looking into it.
600 kg of black jaggery powder and 120 kg of fermentation tablets were seized.
The items were found in a Scorpio vehicle during inspections in Veldanda mandal, Kalwakurthy district.
Accused Islavath Raju of Mogli Thanda was arrested for transporting the materials to Mannanur village.
The goods were allegedly purchased from Begum Bazaar in Hyderabad.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
