Andhra Pradesh Plans Industrial Corridors for Decentralized Regional Growth
Andhra Pradesh wants new industries to grow in many parts of the state, not just in its biggest cities.
The plan uses industrial corridors, special parks and technology clusters.
Visakhapatnam will focus on areas such as green hydrogen, steel, shipbuilding and information technology.
Amaravati will focus on finance, healthcare, quantum computing and deep technology.
Tirupati will develop industries linked to space, electronics, semiconductors, defence and electric vehicles.
Several large projects are planned in places including Kopparthy, Orvakal and Krishnapatnam.
ReNew has promised about Rs 82,000 crore for renewable power, solar manufacturing, batteries and green ammonia.
Space companies and drone manufacturers are also investing in Rayalaseema.
The state says these projects should create jobs and spread economic growth across its regions.
Andhra Pradesh has allotted 26,966 acres to 2,953 industrial units since June 2024.
Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and Tirupati are being assigned distinct sector-focused economic roles.
Major corridor nodes include Kopparthy, Orvakal and Krishnapatnam, with investments totaling billions of rupees.
ReNew has committed about Rs 82,000 crore across renewable energy and related manufacturing projects.
Space, drones, data centers and defence projects are expanding industrial activity across Rayalaseema and other regions.
