Chennai Court Orders Fresh Probe Into DMK MLA Corruption Case
A court in Chennai has ordered a fresh investigation into a corruption case against R Vaithilingam, a member of the legislative assembly (MLA) from the DMK party.
Vaithilingam is accused of taking a bribe of Rs 27.9 crore from a real estate company when he was a minister in the AIADMK government.
The case was initially closed due to lack of evidence, but the new TVK government has decided to reopen it after a news report highlighted the issue.
The court has given the investigating agency three months to complete the reinvestigation.
The Enforcement Directorate, which is also involved in the case, has protested the earlier decision to close the case.
