BSE Limited is a stock exchange, a special marketplace where people can buy and sell small parts of companies, called shares.

BSE is the oldest stock exchange in India.

The exchange just told investors how much money it earned in the first three months of the new financial year.

It made a profit of Rs 874 crore, which is about 9.7 percent more than in the same period last year.

The money the exchange took in stayed almost the same, but it still earned more profit by running things more efficiently.

Its operating earnings also went up slightly.

In the same month, BSE launched a new index, which is like a scoreboard that tracks how well many companies are doing.

The new index covers companies that make up 98 percent of the BSE AllCap Index, a very large group of Indian companies.

On the day the results came out, BSE's own shares became more valuable.

This tells us that investors think the exchange is doing well.
