Former minister urges Rs 100 crore allocation for Brahmin community

A former leader in the Indian state of Karnataka asked the government to give one hundred crore rupees to help the Brahmin community.

That is a very large amount of money.

He made this request at an event launching a scholarship program called Sandeepani for the 2026-27 school year.

A scholarship is money that helps students pay for their education.

The program is run by the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board, a group that helps Brahmin families who need financial support.

Students in their first or second year of pre-university courses, or in general degree programs, can receive fifteen thousand rupees each year.

Students who get into professional courses through exams like CET or NEET can get two-thirds of their admission fees paid back.

The former leader said the board is doing well because more than ninety-eight percent of the loans it gives out are paid back.

The goal of all this help is to make sure students from families with little money can still get a good education.
